Energy Star is a partnership between the U.S. Department of Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency, product manufacturers, local utilities and retailers that promote efficient products and educate consumers about the benefits of energy efficiency. Riverside Public Utilities has been an Energy Star partner since 1999.
What is the Energy Star Product Rebate?
Riverside Public Utilities provides incentives to its customers who purchase new high-efficiency, Energy Star-rated products that use less electricity than standard units of comparable size.
Which products qualify?
The following new Energy Star-rated products qualify for rebates, used and refurbished equipment is not eligible:

*Proof of recycling of old refrigerator must be provided with application. Call 1-800-685-2722 weekdays, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. to schedule an appointment for pick-up. For more information and restrictions visit RPU's Refrigerator Recycling page.
** RPU Electric customers are eligible to receive $75 back for purchasing a High-Efficiency Clothes Washer (HECW), while RPU water customers can receive $160 back. If you are both an RPU electric and water customer, you can receive up to $235 back for purchasing a qualifying Energy Star-rated HECW. HECWs must be Energy Star-rated and have a water factor of 4 or less per load.

What do I need to do to receive a rebate?
After purchasing a qualifying Energy Star-rated product, download and fill out the application form and attach copies of the dated sales receipt(s), and mail to:

Program Guidelines
- Program is subject to fund availability and may be canceled at any time.
- Customers must fulfill all program-specific and general RPU program guidelines to be eligible for incentives.
- Products must be Energy Star rated to qualify, and are subject to approval by RPU. Qualified products can be found at www.energystar.gov.
- Rebates will be applied to the customer's residential electric account.
- All General Program Guidelines apply.
