OCEC To Award RPU Reservoir Replacement Project

Riverside, Calif. – The Orange County Engineering Council (OCEC) has announced this week that Riverside Public Utilities’ (RPU) Evans Reservoir Replacement Project has been selected to receive an Engineering Project Achievement Award in its 2013 competition.

The OCEC works to enhance the public image of engineers and scientists and promotes the interaction of professional societies and engineering/scientific corporations and universities. Its annual awards recognize the best of the best in engineering for Southern California.

RPU’s Evans Reservoir Replacement was a 17-month construction project designed to demolish the original reservoir built in 1968 and construct a new, state-of-the-art facility in the same footprint. More than 10,000 cubic yards of cast-in-place reinforced concrete was used to build the new 16 million gallon reservoir that began its new service in January, 2012, which also included seismic actuated valves, and nearby water system improvements.

The Evans Reservoir and its neighboring 16 million gallon Linden reservoir serve important roles in RPU’s water delivery and storage systems, which serves more than 64,000 metered customers in the City of Riverside.

The utility will receive their recognition at the OCEC Awards ceremony in Fullerton later this month. For additional information about Riverside Public Utilities follow us on Facebook and on Twitter at @RPUNews.
