Energy Star is a partnership between the U.S. Department of Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency, product manufacturers, local utilities and retailers that promote efficient products and educate consumers about the benefits of energy efficiency. Riverside Public Utilities has been an Energy Star partner since 1999.
What is the Energy Star Product Rebate?
Riverside Public Utilities provides incentives to its customers who purchase new high-efficiency, Energy Star-rated products that use less electricity than standard units of comparable size.
Which products qualify?
The following Energy Star-rated products qualify for rebates:
Please note: There is a rebate cap of $500 per customer, per year.

*Proof of recycling of old refrigerator must be provided with application. Call 1-800-685-2722 weekdays, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. to schedule an appointment for pick-up. For more information and restrictions visit RPU's Refrigerator Recycling page.
** RPU Electric customers are eligible to receive $75 back for purchasing a High-Efficiency Clothes Washer (HECW), while RPU water customers can receive $80 back. If you are both an RPU electric and water customer, you can receive up to $155 back for purchasing a qualifying Energy Star-rated HECW.
*** For a limited time only, subject to fund availability. Televisions must be purchased on or after November 16, 2012.

What do I need to do to receive a rebate?
After purchasing a qualifying Energy Star-rated product, complete the Energy Star Rebate application, attach copies of the dated sales receipt(s), and mail to:

Program Guidelines
- Program is subject to fund availability and may be canceled at any time.
- Customers must fulfill all program-specific and general RPU program guidelines to be eligible for incentives.
- Products must be Energy Star rated to qualify, and are subject to approval by RPU. Qualified products can be found at www.energystar.gov.
- Rebate amounts are limited to $500 per year, per customer.
- Rebates will be applied to the customer's residential electric account.
- All General Program Guidelines apply.
