How does the Tree Power Rebate Program work?
The residential Tree Power rebate program is open to RPU electric customers only. After purchasing qualifying shade trees and planting them around the property, qualified customers may submit a Tree Power rebate application form with copies of their tree purchase receipt(s).
Rebates of up to $25 per tree, limited to five trees per calendar year (up to $125 maximum), are available. Rebate amounts cannot exceed the purchase price of the tree, and things like sales tax, installation, delivery and other associated costs are not considered part of the total purchase price. Rebates are credited to the customer’s utility bill.
Why plant trees?
Trees planted around a home can reduce cooling costs by as much as 20%. In addition to saving energy, here are some other benefits trees offer:
• Clean the air
• Reduce noise
• Provide privacy
• Prevent soil erosion
• Beautify the environment
