Californians recycled a record 7.6 billion beverage containers between January and June 2008 raising the six-month California Refund Value (CRV) recycling rate to 76 percent. The jump is an increase of nearly 600 million beverage containers over the same period in 2007 when the recycling rate was 72 percent.

Riverside's Marcy branch library is now located in the old Auto Club of America building at 6927 Magnolia Avenue. The 9,000 square foot full-service library features state-of-the-art technology, including 33 public-access computers. The library also houses a large environmental wall display, designed by Riverside Public Utilities, that educates children on the water cycle and our city's water delivery system.
